Hello

A Bit About Me

Hey, my name is Kassem Ossman; I am a senior at Downers Grove South High School in Downers Grove, Illinois, and I am the Editor-in-Chief for my school newspaper, the Blueprint.

I have always been in love with investigative journalism, so sophomore year I decided to take the school's Journalistic Expression class to get an idea of what being a journalist was like, and I have been in love with it since then. This program has been the defining factor in shaping me into the person I am. It allowed me to become the "kid detective" I would read about, which taught me to seek out the story. Journalism has allowed me to pour myself into my work, find stories and write about the voices that go unheard in our community.

It is our job as journalists to give a voice to the voiceless.

If you need to find me, I am probably running around the school finding interviews for my upcoming articles, in the newsroom helping with layout, practicing for the upcoming play or musical, helping novices on the DGS Speech team, or making sure I know the songs for the upcoming concert for both A Capella and Madrigals choir. If all else fails, you'll find me at the nearest park with my brother playing a game of the floor is lava!
